About

Justin S. Eloriaga is an Economist at the International Monetary Fund’s Shanghai Center (国际货币基金组织上海中心), the Fund’s regional hub for the Asia-Pacific. The Center promotes applied policy research on questions facing emerging market and middle-income economies, serves as a venue for peer-to-peer dialogue on key policy issues, and acts as an information and knowledge exchange hub for the region.

He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Emory University under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Scholarship. Before Emory, he graduated summa cum laude with a B.Sc. in Applied Economics and an M.Sc. in Economics from De La Salle University, completing the ladderized degree in the fastest time recorded.

He is an Associate Editor at the DLSU Business & Economics Review, and was previously a Visiting Instructor at Emory University’s Department of Data and Decision Sciences, an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at De La Salle University, and a Central Bank Associate at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

His research is in macroeconomics, with a focus on Bayesian time-series econometrics and monetary economics. Recent work identifies Fed information shocks episode by episode from the narrative record, separates supply, demand, and speculative shocks in oil markets, and studies how monetary policy, trade, and energy constraints propagate across Asia.
